Music industry's leading lights choose next-generation content delivery platform

London, UK, 6 March 2007 – Interoute today unveiled a contract extension with V2 Music to continue providing the pioneering independent label with its award-winning Media Manager platform. In addition to the two year extension, Interoute has announced that Nile-On, one of the UK’s leading online music plugging agencies, has signed up to Media Manager to strengthen its digital streaming and promotions operations.

Interoute has been working with V2 Music for over three years, providing streaming for all video and promotional content for its artists including Stereophonics, The Rakes, Bloc Party, Little Man Tate, Cold War Kids and Duke Special.

Beth Appleton, Head of New Media at V2, commented: “Interoute is a perfect fit for our operation. The system allows all our territories and label partners to use the platform independently and easily. The technology is not overwhelming to use and is still agile enough to cope with our evolving needs 24/7. Our artists are employing new media to reach fans in different ways across the globe, and in Media manager, we have a trusted audio and video platform to help us accomplish this.”

Serena Wilson, Director at Nile-On, said of the deal: “We use digital technology to generate the maximum online exposure for our artists, and to ensure downloads create real revenues. Media Manager slots perfectly into our online architecture and with it, we are able to stream our latest content quickly and easily to fans around the world.”

Media Manager is Interoute’s easy to use streaming and download platform for high volumes of on-demand content such as music, movies, software and training materials for web, mobile and IPTV. Advanced features include unique packet-level security, instant Podcasting tools, and ‘DRM to go’.

About V2

V2 was established in 1997 following the sale of the original “Virgin Music” to Thorn EMI in 1992.  The sale outlined an everlasting restriction on the use of the “Virgin” name for a record label; hence “V2” was born.

A year ago V2 created ‘Cooperative Music’, a division that works with independent labels to distribute repertoire throughout Europe. Through this relationship V2 represents Wichita Recordings with Bloc Party, CitySlang, Luakabop and Modular Recordings and Memphis Industries with The Pipettes.

The V2 Digital team look to drive innovation and be very proactive in the digital and mobile space, embracing new business models and technology and working with bands to effectively communicate, involve music fans and expand routes to market. They are proud to have won a number of New Media Awards two Digital Music Awards (2005 and 2005) and Best Use of Multiple Channels at the New Media Awards in 2005 when they were shortlisted against giants Orange, Wimbledon and Big Brother.
