Interoute is internationally recognised for security excellence
Lloyd’s Register Group accredits Interoute with its ISO/IEC 27001 certification
15 February 2007 - Interoute, owner of Europe’s most advanced next-generation network, today announced it has been awarded the internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management, the ISO/IEC 27001. Certification is achieved through a series of rigorous audits by the prestigious independent body Lloyds Register Group (LRQA). The LRQA standards ensure that controls addressing confidentiality, integrity and availability of information are in place to safeguard the information of interested parties.
Information security has become a priority for corporate customers, who are increasingly exposed to regulatory security requirements and face the threat of fraud, hackers and viral attacks. As certification can only be obtained and retained by regular audits, this ensures that security best practices are ongoing and engrained into all daily processes.
Mark Osborne, CISO at Interoute, commented: “When customers trust us with their data, whether it’s for voice communications, managed hosting or networks, they trust us with a valuable part of their business. They need to know it is safe, not just for today, but for the foreseeable future. This certification process proves we can protect their business and demonstrates Interoute’s commitment to implementing security controls across operations. Walk into our Security Operations Centre or any of our operational centres this time next year and you’ll see an ISO 27001 certificate on the wall. Customers are demanding it”.
Interoute are accredited to various security standards across their extensive European foot-print. But the decision to move to ISO27001 was based on its global recognition as a proven standard for securing information assets, having been adapted from BS7799-2 by the International Standards Organisation in 2005. The program will be expanded in 2007 to include all operational centres in Europe.
